The power pack contains a 22Wh Lithium-polymer battery, with two USB output ports capable of up to 10W of output, and fits in a sustainable bamboo enclosure. The kit comes with lightweight solar panels, which helps provide portable clean power for charging devices such as smart phones on the go, or for powering small off-grid Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects
rnWhile the Chi-qoo is a practical product, our goal in making it available as a DIY kit is to expose more people to the joys of making something with their own hands. We\’re also hoping to reduce waste by allowing people to easily repair and upgrade their kits. Finally, our hope is to make solar power immediately practical, to show that it is a viable source of power for the future
rnIf accepted, this would be our 3rd time at Maker Faire. A prototype was first displayed in 2011 at Maker Faire NY, and we were also at the San Mateo Maker Faire last year, where we had kits for sale, as well as a table where people could assemble their kits. We had numerous families with young children, as well as non-makers, assemble kits and walk away with functional solar chargers. We were also awarded an Editor\’s Choice Blue Ribbon. This year, we would like again sell kits, and provide a space for people to assemble kits, as last year. We are also hoping to showcase a slightly larger solar power supply.”,”public_description”:”The BootstrapSolar Chi-qoo is an Open Source battery-backed solar power supply, capable of charging/powering devices like smart phones, Arduino or Raspbery Pi projects, or mini-robot armies.”,”project_photo”:”http://makerfaire.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/chi-qoo-white-bg.jpg”,”project_photo_thumb”:”http://makerfaire.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/chi-qoo-white-bg-500×375.jpg”,”project_website”:”http://bootstrapsolar.com”,”project_video”:”",”food”:”No”,”food_details”:”",”sales”:”Yes”,”sales_details”:”Complete Chi-qoo kits, as well as individual components (solar panels, solar charger circuits, lithium polymer batteries, USB output circuits).
