If only you knew it was there.rnrnThat\’s what the ISS-Above does. It lets you (and anyone who can see the device) know the ISS, with it\’s compliment of astronauts, is 260 miles up and passing you by at over 17,500 miles per hour. rnrnIt lights up when the ISS is nearby, but that\’s not all. It can also TWEET a message to the Space Station and it has its own built-in web server to give you a ton of information about current and future passes.rnrnIt\’s both an awareness thing, so more people get to know the Space Station is in their sky, and it\’s also to let those who are \’\'up there\’\’ know that we know and appreciate what they are doing! rnrnI am currently running a Kickstarter to support this initial world-wide roll-out. rnThis is my current Kickstarter page (closing Feb 27th)rnhttps://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1385270522/iss-abovernThe project is over 300% of it\’s goal and 170 backers and still 5 days left. By the time of the Maker Faire there will be at nearly 200 locations around the world who will have already received and setup their own ISS-Above. rnrnThe ISS-Above is built using a Raspberry Pi along with numerous different display options. The code is written by me – and all the calculations for the ISS passes are calculated on the device itself.rnrnI\’ll be bringing along numerous different VERSIONS of the ISS-Above with different display options. including the versions here->rnhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UAIFKQq6KkrnBy the time of the Maker Faire I should also have developed some larger versions of the LED displays. rnrnI am also developing some educational materials that are a natural fit for the product (learning about orbits / the ISS etc). I\’ve already been approached by NASA Johnson Space Center about ISS-Above and I am working with them to get additional educational materials also. rnrnI took a beta version of the device(s) to the San Diego Mini-Maker Faire. rnhttp://sandiegominimakerfaire.org/space-station-overhead/ rnrnThat was very much a hit.. and spurred me on to develop things further, create a Beta program and eventually launch my Kickstarter.rnrnI very much look forward to being a part of the Maker Faire. rnrnThank you for considering my application. rnrn-Liamrnhttp://issabove.com”,”public_description”:”The International Space Station passes overhead most of the populated areas of the world every day.
