Specifically, it talks about the underlying keys that giant internet corporations in Silicon Valley use to monopolize and leverage user information, since they have discovered that the value of user information is unimaginable. Above and beyond, it captures the growing awareness of today\’s internet users of the evolving mass electronic surveillance programs such as PRISM and X-Keyscore. Every piece of our information we send and receive u2013 the data we rush out u2013 is monetized and becomes a tool against us.rnrnData Rush was inspired by the other u201crushu201d in the 19th century u2013 the gold rush in California, near Silicon Valley of the present day. The sculpture itself represents a big intricate processing machine. It taps into data in the network, turning it into a mechanism for dropping gold (candy) by precise calculations u2013 in other words, it exchanges bytes for real currency.rnrnFor Maker Faire Apon will bring his sculpture/artwork to the faire and exhibit it for attendees. “,”public_description”:”Data Rush is an interactive kinetic sculpture that reflects the past, the present, and the future of our data over the internet.
